Harms Research & Consulting works to strengthen the capacity of public-interest organizations working on artificial intelligence safety and governance, supporting efforts to protect against AI-related risks and to help build a good future.
Harms Research is a research and advisory practice that partners with AI safety nonprofits, governance institutions, and advocacy organizations to support the internal work that makes sustained impact possible. The practice is designed to complement existing teams, providing additional capacity, research support, and institutional expertise where organizations may be stretched, understaffed, or navigating new problem areas. Across engagements, Harms Research aims to strengthen strategic clarity, organizational coordination, and the long-term capacity of organizations to act effectively.
Harms Research was founded by Haven Harms, a researcher and consultant focused on AI safety, governance, and public-interest advocacy. Haven became concerned about the long-term risks posed by advanced AI systems in 2021 and began engaging in AI policy and advocacy in 2022. Her background in nonprofit operations and impact evaluation informs the practice’s emphasis on implementation, institutional support, and organizational effectiveness.
